What is the difference between Grade A handles and Grade B handles?

The 20SBA is a 20" Straight Boys Axe Handle

If you have been following us for a while this axe pattern might look a bit familiar to you.

This handle was Inspired by the old 70's era fallers/miners handle I dug out of a barn a few years back. Those handles sold so fast and the customers that were lucky enough to snag an original really enjoy them.

So we decided to bring them back as part of our heritage line of axes.

A great handle!!

The grain orientation was very good and came with no lacquer on it which is a good thing. It took the stain, boiled linseed oil and wax very well. Sanded and polished out to a phenomenal look! I’m very pleased with this handle! Thank you WhiskeyRiver for doing what you do!! This handle and your service gets 5 stars from me!!

“Unfortunately, we do not offer returns or exchanges on handles”

The 20” SBA handle looks like a high quality axe handle with excellent orientation of the wood grain (quality: 5 stars). However the handle does not look like it will be a good match for the Collins Hudson Bay axe head I was planning to hang on it. Because the height of the lug on the Hudson Bay axe head is only about 1-1/2”, I would lose about 4” of useful handle length when the axe head is properly seated just above the shoulder of the handle. I asked customer service if the handle could be exchanged for a 24” pack handle, since I noticed that a couple of satisfied customers posted photographs of their Collins Hudson Bay axe heads hung on the 24” pack handle.

Brandon emailed back, ”Unfortunately we do not offer returns or exchanges on handles.” This is NOT what I expected from a company that advertises on their website: “If your satisfaction is not met our team will make it right!”
(Customer service: zero stars!)
