Arctic Fox Dual Grit Sharpening Puck

A dual grit ceramic puck stone in the acclaimed Arctic Fox sapphire ceramic blend on one face with a coarser grey face for a one-two punch when field sharpening axes, machetes, and other tools. The grey ANSI 240 grit face will rapidly erase scratch marks from a file, while the icy blue ANSI 400 grit side will bring the edge to a hazy mirror finish that easily shaves. Readily absorbs and retains water, with a thin film on the surface to keep the pores of the stone free of metal fines. Cuts quickly, yet leaves a fine finish.

Love this puck

This thing brings steel to shave sharp in minutes. Quickly removes dings and dents in blades, far faster than expected. Now, it is only fair to say that a file is faster - but files leaves gouges in the metal and leave a raggedy edge. This brings tools to a sharp, clean edge with minimal effort. I generally use Rem oil to lubricate the stone, but water works well, too. My only gripe - and it's minor - is that the product description describes "gray" and "icy blue" sides. After a few uses, the colors get muddied, so just remember the "gray" side is the thinner side. I use this puck for every bladed outdoor hand tool I own.

Awesome sharpening puck

This is definitely the best puck I've used. I've been a fan of the Arctic Fox stones for years now. The coarse side works well and as intended but in my opinion the fine Arctic Fox side is one of the best stones I've used (and I've used a lot including many Japanese water stones and traditional "oil" stones). It holds water like a water stone but doesn't wear nearly as quickly. With good technique it's capable of giving you a far better edge than its grit rating would suggest. Edges will easily shave right off the stone but follow it with a strop and you'll have a truly exceptional edge. I use it to touch up all of my outdoor cutting tools. Awesome stone, don't hesitate on this one. It's an extremely well formulated stone that's pretty much perfect in my opinion
