What is the difference between Grade A handles and Grade B handles?

This handle is one of the coolest handles we have had a chance to put out to date.

I bought an old, old, old steel pattern from a fellow axe junkie on eBay because I fell in love with the shape and that pattern was used to turn this handle.

There is something so awesome about getting a forgotten piece of history back into working hands. This pattern was made when people depended on their tools for survival so when it came to designing them they were not kidding around.

This curvy hickory single bit pattern is designed for axes that have a bit of a taller eye (Connies, Jerseys, etc...) but I'm sure it would feel comfortable on any axe you can fit it into.

The axe, as it comes, measures 31" but the palm swell is meant to be cut down after the axe is hung to remove any marring or damage from whatever heavy tool you use to hang the axe with.

The edges of the swell also curve slightly upward to give you more grip when swinging.

This is one of those handles that looks fine and dandy in pictures but you don't truly understand how awesome it is until you get to work with it.

Hickory will be a constant with this handle moving forward but White Oak is going to be very limited if not exclusively on this first run of handles only.

So if you think you'd want this handle in White Oak be sure to get in on this first run. As I said above - we'd love to keep offering them in White Oak but depending on supply I can't guarantee that we will or will not keep carrying the White Oak version.

Top of the Eye (eye is tapered): 2 1/2" X 15/16"

Shoulder:  2 7/8" X 1"

Heritage 30C

The grade A I received is perfect, it's nice and slim like the handles of yesteryear. I hung a 3 1/2# True Temper Connie on it, swings like dream😍

Great handles.

This is kind of a blanket review as I've ordered several handle models from WR and I'm not writing reviews for all of them. The 30C/28C are excellent. The B-grade is as good as anything else you'll find and the A-grade is virtually perfect. They have 6" of eye to work with so they're perfect for tassies and jerseys. I like thin, ergonomic handles and the 28/30C's are the only handles I've ever bought that I didn't feel a need to thin and reshape.

I also have axes hung on standard single bit handles in 24", 28" straight, 32", 36" and double bits on their 28", 30" and 32" handles. All are excellent. Not quite the same fit and finish as the heritage handles but the price reflects that and they're still great handles. I used to buy House Handles but Whiskey River has far better handles for slightly more money and their shipping fees are lower. Don't mess around trying to save a couple dollars with other companies. These guys make excellent handles and they typically ship quickly. Pics are my collection of users. I think there's 11 or 12 WR handles in there.

Nice piece of wood

I have not installed the new handle yet. It looks just about the right size as delivered, so it will be easy to install. I am going to review the handle install video that Whiskey River sent to me a while back so I make sure to do a premium install. Thank You
