Differences Between Grade "A" and Grade "B" Handles

Differences Between Grade "A" and Grade "B" Handles

Grade A:

Our grade A handles are the highest quality handle we offer.  All of our handles are hand graded and personally sorted through by our staff. Of all the handles we receive from the manufacturer about 25%-30% end up in this category. This criteria of a grade A handle is: minimal runout, grain that is less than 20 degrees off center, no knots or other integrity compromising defects.  One thing we do not subscribe to that is a useless artifact from days long gone is the notion that grade A handles are just clear white hickory. We do not grade for color as it has no effect on the performance of the handle.

Grade B:

Grade B consists of the other 75% of handles that do not live up to our standards for Grade A.  These handles are still light years better than the handles you will find at the hardware store. They may have grain between 20 degrees and 35 degrees off center. They could have more run out than a handle with a Grade A rating. They may have non-consequential knots or other non-compromising blemishes. All Grade B handles are extremely high quality.
