Single Bit Axe Handles - Whiskey River Premium Select
Most single bit handles on the market were designed by someone who has never hung an axe. You can tell by the tenon. Skinny, factory-sanded down so the handle drops into every eye regardless of whether it actually fits any of them well. You wedge it, you torque it, and six months later you're doing it again.
The single bit handles in this collection are hand-selected from our stock by people who hang axes for fun and out of necessity. We look at grain orientation first, always. Tight, straight grain running parallel to the bit is what keeps a handle together when you catch a knot wrong or drive it into frozen wood. Then we look at the tenon. We leave more wood there than the other guys, so you're working with the handle rather than fighting it during the hang.
We carry American hickory as our bread and butter because it's the right wood for the job. Shock absorption, durability, and it develops character in your hand over time rather than just wearing out. You'll also find birch and specialty woods in here for guys who want options.
Single bit handles for full size felling axes, boys axes, Hudson Bay patterns, Adirondack cruisers, and more. If you're hanging a Council Tool, restoring a vintage head, or just need a handle that's going to outlast the cheap one that came with whatever you bought at the farm store, you're in the right place.
Not sure which length or pattern fits your head? Hit us up and we'll point you in the right direction.
