A classic working man's double bit handle. This thing is timeless and no-nonsense. It's 32 inches of air dried American Hickory. It's straight and slim and very comfortable in hand. It's been thinned to lessen the fatigue one might experience while swinging a heavier double bit. Each handle is hand picked by our axe swinging team to ensure its quality!
The dimension of the eye is: 3" x 3/4"
If you really want to add some character to your new hang pick up a walnut wedge!
You can also grab an extra poplar wedge if you want too!
***Each handle comes with a proper wedge!
Pro’s: Hard to find a decent handle ANYWHERE, here’s one place.
Good grain orientation. Straight handle.
Con’s: Fatty handle. Not thinned, or if so, glad they didn’t send the original.
Kerf only sawed about halfway down to where it needed to be.
Need tools (rasp, sandpaper, drawknife, saw to finish kerf) plus time. Fine handle now. Good for people to know ahead of time.
(The 24” cruiser double bit I also purchased looks gtg out of the box). Overall 4 stars, great people. Cheers WRTco. Will be purchasing from again.
Like every other handle I've received, the wood has been good quality free of defects and, in cases where A-grade was ordered, excellent grain. Some double bit handles often have either way too much shoulder or hardly any, and this has just enough to do the job without being excessive. My immediate thought upon reaching into the box to retrieve it, however, was, "Wow, this is girthy!" I know my tastes tend to be on the thinner said than Whiskey River's handles usually are, but considering the item description makes specific mention of this handle being thin, I'm very surprised at how very not thin it is. It isn't a wannabe baseball bat like some others' handles, but still--I wouldn't go out of my way to say it is thin. I'll definitely be shaving it down.
