You can now order 16" curved or 22" Straight Versions!
The Council Tool Camp Carver was designed with the campsite and the survivalist in mind. The Camp Carver head is hefty enough to accomplish tasks like limbing and fashioning camp tools and camp infrastructure from smaller trees and windfall. Once you have your campsite comfortable and set up the Camp Carver can keep you entertained by using it to carve anything you want! Whether that be a beautiful new spoon or a barbed spear for fishing! It has a comfortable beard on the axe for carving and making feather sticks and a hardened pole for doing things like pounding metal tent stakes and wedges! This heirloom-quality tool will quickly find its way into the books of bush-crafting legend!
Although they carry the same head - the 22" Straight handle is a completely different beast of on axe. You can still carve with the 22" version but the extra length helps increase its number of effective uses around camp. Unlike a normal straight handle, this handle has a slight curve to it that makes it much more ergonomic and comfortable in hand. Both axes are amazing on their own but they were really designed to be carried as a pair. Where one axe falls short the other length is there to step right in!

What can I say? Great hatchet for a great price. Hopefully I can learn to keep up with it 😎
Like it. The handle is a little deep in the hand vertically but that is fixable. I did like the length. Only used it to split some live oak for barbecue wood. Did a good job.
The axe arrived quickly and well packaged however soon as I removed it from the box I noticed a decent chip on the toe. Honestly it’s not a big deal for me, I quickly fixed it with a file, a stone and some leather. But having a $180 axe come damaged wasn’t pleasing. It is a great axe, the straight 22” handle is perfect for this head. For me it is a better version than my beloved Wetterling Bushman.
Sharpens easily, handles well (one or two hands), & balance is very good.
I haven't had a chance to use the axe yet, but it looks and feels amazing! The handle grain is straight and the head is on tight. I see no reason why this shouldn't be all it's advertised to be! The sheath feels like quality leather, so no issue there either. The company is easy to work with, the shipping is fast, the packaging is good and the free meat stick tastes great!
I will definitely be using these guys again!
