My friend had an old mattock head without a handle. She wasn’t sure that it was worth saving. So I took it and bought a new handle for it and gave it a new lease on life. My friend was very happy.
Picked up some of these handles for some Pulaski heads I have. Really excited about the 40” length. At 6’ 3 I need all the extra handle length I can get!
Grain orientation was great, handles were straight, and there weren’t any blemishes or knots whatsoever.
I went ahead and used an oak wedge, and I couldn’t be happier with the result.
