Meet our newest addition to our popular Heritage Line of handles - The 28LUM (28" LUMBERMAN'S)

Do you have a Maine Wedge that has been begging for an authentic handle?

Good ol' New England has been the heart of the lumberman industry and their handles have always had an iconic shape and feel.

We sourced a NOS Tatem brand handle and replicated it to be able to offer a remanufactured version of this recognizable New England shape.

There is something so awesome about getting a forgotten piece of history back into working hands. This pattern was made when people depended on their tools for survival so when it came to designing them they were not kidding around.

The reverse neck, straight swell, and thin overall feel make this handle very comfortable while swinging.

Dimensions:

The handle, as it comes, measures 28", and the palm swell is finished.

Top of the Eye (eye is tapered): 2 1/2" X 13/16"

Shoulder:  2 7/8" X 13/16"

What is the difference between Grade A handles and Grade B handles?

Nice handle

I can appreciate what these guys are doing with the handles. The eye was a shade small for my head so it might become loose over time. I replaced my Hultafors handle because it was constantly loosening up. Over the last ten years I have never had a chip in it. After 3 trees my nee handle has a big chip in the side of it…..not sure how or why that happened. The handle is also really skinny and a bit sharp feeling compared to my old one. All in all I recommend this product and the lighter weight handle will be better in my pack, but its not looking like its going to hold up very long.

good grain orientation but…..

Well I tried emailing to get response and am willing to try another order but I had one chip off the old shoulder… Tried making it work not sure if worm hole, shipping but that stress fracture chipped off after hours of hafting and shaping. I tried emailing for support but have not heard anything back. Wish they had phone number to speak with someone.

Problem!

Now I don’t want to get it dirty. Wax the axe , oil the handle. Repeat

New wood for my “trail” axe

After setting a couple of axes on the Heritage axe handles, I was anxious to try this 28” LUM handle on a couple of trail axes I’ve had on overly stout OEM handles. Sweet mama, these handles are just the ticket! Thin where you want it with a fawn’s foot swell that really works to keep your hand in place when you really get to swinging. I like the extra 4” vs the stock handle that came on my forest axe. Thank you Brandon for keeping the heritage handles alive.
Sincerely,
Peter Bovey

Best feeling handle period

Although I haven’t put a head on this handle it feels so good, it reminds me of the handles of yesteryear.
