What is the difference between Grade A handles and Grade B handles?

There's almost no more iconic of an axe than a good trusty double bit! This handle is as pure of a double bit handle as they come. 30 inches of air dried American Hickory shaved down to a comfortable and ergonomic workhorse. These axes have been hand picked by our talented axe swinging staff to ensure they can carry our "Whiskey River Premium Select" label. Any double bit would be privileged and proud to be given the opportunity to by hung upon this handle!

The dimension of the eye is: 3/4" x 2 3/4".

If you really want to add some character to your new hang pick up a walnut wedge!

You can also grab an extra poplar wedge if you want too!

Every axe handle comes with the proper wedge!

Quality wood

Nice and hard, very straight with great veins. Can’t wait to mount the head and really lay the wood on something.

Great Axe Handle and wedges!!!

I stumbled across this company while searching the web after getting frustrated with incorrect listings on Amazon and Ebay of actual eye sizes for axe handles. And was tired of wondering whether or not I would have to strip the varnish off the handles. So I figured I'd give this company a shot. The axe handle I received was perfect for my vintage(1941) Sager Double Bit Chemical Axe. With very little rasp work I was able to hang the head quickly and easily. The eye size description was spot on and the grain orientation was great and ran perfectly up the length of the handle and came with a quality wedge.. What really drew me to try out this company's product was the wide selection of handles and the different wood wedges they offered. I ordered some extra wedges in walnut and purple heart and they are very nice. I will being check this company's stock/inventory first when shopping for axe handles in the future.

Chopping block confession

I'm a little vertically Challenged at 5' 8". I was using the standard 36" handles from hardware stores all my life. I didn't know there were a such thing as a 30" handle. I broke quite a few, and sometimes more than one a year.
One day I found this sight and contacted Brandon by phone because they never seemed to have these handles in stock. He confirmed that they were out of stock. The next day he emailed me and said they found some in the warehouse and wanted to know if I was still interested. BTW., that's service above and beyond. Thank you very much. Well, I got a couple of them and went to work rehalfing my broken doubles. Like magic I stopped over-striking and had so much control, that I developed new technique's. Going on three years now with no broken handle, not to mention I have the prettiest axes in town.
If your having a hard time hitting the same spot on the round and seems like your stand to far away and still having over strikes, get a shorter handle! You'll be impressed with the power and accuracy you have and didn't even know it.
