Whiskey River Card Scraper set of 3 - DFM Toolworks

I've been using card scrapers to help shape and fine-tune my handles for quite some time now thanks to my good friend Matthew Justice.

They're easier to use than say a spokeshave or hand plane and require much less maintenance.

Plus, using a card scraper allows you to take a more controlled amount of material off of your handle so you catch your mistakes before they become a problem - whereas using a spokeshave or a draw knife can lead to digging too far into the handle and removing far too much material.

Removing a lot of material is totally fine in the beginning stages of shaping your handle but when you get to the finishing touches you want something with a little more precision.

This is a set of 3 shapes of card (sometimes referred to as cabinet) scrapers so you'll have exactly the right scraper you need when you need it.

From time to time you'll need to sharpen your scrapers to get the most out of them but that's not a hard task at all and the 2nd video below goes into that a bit more for you.

You will be able to use these right out of the gate as they already come pretty sharp but to continue to get the best performance out of them they will need to be sharpened every now and again.

  • Made in the USA from 0.032" (0.81mm) Thick American Blue Spring Steel
  • Card scraper edge will last longer in hard wood with a High Carbon Steel, 50 C Rockwell
  • Burnisher is NOT included and recommended for best scraping performance
  • Scrapers need sharpening before use
  • Laser Engraved with Whiskey River Logo on front and DFM Toolworks on the back.

Best tools I own

I’ve made a few hundred axe handles. These are an absolutely must. I was using an old hand saw blade I had cut up. But this just holds an edge so much better

Amazing set

Was able to use these this weekend and they did the job perfectly! They are not too aggressive on the wood just need a light sanding to finish off the handle.
