From West Woods:
24" West Woods Handles boy's axe handle.
This handle is designed to fit a boy's axe eye, up to 2 1/4" x 7/8".
This handle is made of the finest air dried hickory for stability and strength. It is cut on a copy lathe and then rough slack belt sanded to 80 grit. Finish sanding is recommended.
These handles are designed to be thin, flexible, and ergonomic. They are very slightly thicker than their 28" counter parts to handle rigorous work on a truck or ATV axe were the axe could often be asked to do bigger jobs than normally associated with packable axes.
The tongue was designed with no shoulder and slightly over size as it needs to be able to fit lots of axe heads from standard domestic boy's axes to Swedish and German heads with larger eyes. Fitting is required. Measure the bottom of the eye to be sure this handle will fill your eye. A small shoulder naturally develops as the handle is shaved down to fit the eye.
The knob has been left thick so the user can shape it as desired. The knob swell is generous but gentle without creating pressure points at the base of the hand.
No axe handle is indestructible. Use carefully and at your own risk.
