Double Bit Axe Handles - Whiskey River Premium Select
A double bit axe is already a statement. It says you know what you're doing, you're not playing around, and you probably heat your home with wood or at least wish you did. Hanging one on a bad handle is its own kind of tragedy.
Double bit handles take more abuse than just about anything else in a woodsman's kit. The swing mechanics are different, the balance demands more from the wood, and because you're running two bits you tend to use a double bit harder and longer than a single bit. The handle has to be up to that.
Every double bit handle in this collection is air dried American hickory, hand-selected for straight grain and a tenon with enough meat on it to give you a proper hang. We stock 28, 30, 32, and 36 inch lengths to cover everything from a light cruiser to a full size felling axe. Straight and swamped patterns both.
These are the handles the loggers used before big box stores decided that a painted-up poplar dowel was good enough. It isn't, and if you're here, you already know that.
Grab a walnut or Osage orange wedge while you're at it. There is no better feeling than a clean hang on a beautiful head with a wedge that matches.
