- 6# axe-eye style splitting maul with a 36″ American hickory handle.
- Forged tool steel head, Made in USA, with clear lacquer finish to deter rust.
- Heat treatment of bit end produces fine grain structure and Rc 45-50 (Rockwell) for safety and toughness.
- Striking face is intended for driving steel wedges (Council # 5W) that are used in conjunction with splitting logs.
- 36″ hickory handle is kiln dried before turning. Eye section is then dried below 10% moisture content prior to assembly.
- Handle is hydraulically inserted into head and secured with a serrated aluminum wedge, providing a very secure mechanical bond.

A really excellent splitting maul. I am writing this review after putting in 4-5 hours with it (and looking forward to many more). It splits the knotty, patchy “volunteer” logs I have in my yard with ease.
My only gripe, and not enough to even lower this from a 5 star to a 4 star review is that the head came loose after 2 hours of use. The wedge came out, basically. Fortunately I have some boiled linseed oil and a few step wedges to throw into the battle and the head is securely back on the handle. 👌🏻
This thing is a hoss. No other way to put it. Out of the box ready to split huge chunks of hardwood. Fast shipping, and arrived with a rubber blade guard too, an unexpected surprise. Used it to split White Ash rounds as soon as it arrived.
